As the holiday season approaches, I can't help but think about my favorite holiday tradition: The Nutcracker. For me, The Nutcracker is more than just a ballet, it's a source of inspiration for my music lessons and a way to bring the magic of the season into my classroom.

One of my biggest sources of teaching inspiration has been Artie Almeida and her Elementary Music Lessons. She has several great Nutcracker-themed music lessons that I have adopted for my classroom. The Nutcracker is such a rich source of musical material, from Tchaikovsky's beautiful score to the characters and story that can be used for creative movement and storytelling.

Of course, the Holiday Season is also the Sick Season! I wanted to create an emergency sub plan for my classroom in case I have to call out sick, so I created the Nutcracker Color by Note Value and Nutcracker Activity Worksheet Set. This way, my students will still be able to experience the magic of the Nutcracker, even if I am out sick!

These products are currently available on my TPT store, so if you're a fellow music teacher looking for some Nutcracker inspiration or just want to share the magic of the season with your students, be sure to check them out! The Nutcracker is a timeless classic, and I hope that my love for this holiday tradition and my passion for music education shines through in these resources. Happy Holidays!
